As an avid skincare enthusiast and trend-watcher, I'm interested in following new product innovations within the skincare market.  The beauty industry as a whole is valued at $532 billion, and is continuously expanding with the popularity of direct to consumer brands, targeted marketing, transparency and sustainability within brands. Considering these trends, I sought to design a skincare brand that I'd want to place on my shelf.

PROBLEM

OPPORTUNITY

The over-saturation of the skincare market has resulted in a cluttering of skincare routines, shelves, and landfills. Lengthy ingredient lists and a lack of regulation in formulations make finding products that suit your skin concerns a challenge, resulting in many products collecting dust or in the trash. While there has been a push to increase recycling in beauty products with services such as TerraCycle, it's often overlooked due to the inconvenience of taking the adequate measures to recycle skincare components.

While there has been a rise of customizable skincare within the industry, there is an opportunity to create a unique "you" centered brand that is sustainable without sacrificing the packaging aesthetics.

SOLUTION

While the beauty industry is always growing, so is the knowledge of the consumer. Iyo helps further educate their customer by identifying their individual concerns and formulating a product specifically for them, resulting in less clutter in their skincare routines and landfills later on.

CONSULTATION

Users go through a simple consultation with

Iyo's AI to answer questions about their skin type, concerns and lifestyle to determine the perfect formula suited for their skin.

FACE SCANNING TECHNOLOGY

Face scanning technology analyzes your skin

to determine areas of concern to create your

formula. Users are prompted monthly to scan 

their face to track their skins progress and

adjust their formula as necessary.

YOUR FORMULA

Once users complete their skincare consultation, they are able to view and approve their formula 

to ensure that they are satisfied with their

skin analysis. Once they have approved, their 

custom formula is sent to the lab to be created.

THE SUBSCRIPTION

Iyo promises to send you one and only box upon your initial subscription that contains one glass jar filled with one month's supply of biodegradable vegetable cellulose ampoules filled with a formula designed for your skin. 

After your first month, you will receive a recyclable envelope in the mail every month containing a refill of ampoules. Using the iyo face scanning technology and AI consultations, you'll be able to adjust your formula to better suit your skin over time.
